Kitchen Sink Tofu + Crab Fried Rice + Cucumber Salad
I guess most of us only post what we make when it’s a success; however, there are definitely certain days when you just need to throw together whatever you can find and hope for the best.
In the US - when a dish is preceded by the words “Kitchen Sink” - it means that you just cook whatever is leftover in the fridge. It came from the idea of putting in “everything BUT the kitchen sink.”
Last night was such a night since I was busy until 630pm and was just trying to get something reasonable together. There is like 4 mystery vegetables + part of a huge napa cabbage in that tofu dish (no meat since I had no time to go to the store or defrost anything). I think I threw in some chinese basil at the end too…I made some fried rice with the old rice in the fridge and used a Crab-flavored packet that Kelly left me when she moved, which I’m sure is expired but I didn’t even check because ignorance is bliss. The only thing that was presentable was my chinese cucumber salad…
I’m not sure what kind of dinner happened but I have to say my tofu dish kind of tasted like eating hot and sour soup…(pregnant hand has been a bit heavy on the vinegar recently)
at least I have a good dessert from the previous day to fall back on….

Blackberry Lemonade Bars with Hazelnut Shortbread Crust
Since I have really sour cravings - this is the perfect dessert for me right now.
WB and I spent the morning of our Memorial Day baking this together so that we can enjoy it at the end of an errand-filled day.
